Miriam’s dress

Christian first saw Miriam in a flight to Mallorca in 2005, but he was too shy to walk up and talk to her. Later that day Christian and his friend met Miriam and her mother again in the historic city centre of Palma. Again he was too shy to talk to her. A few hours later all of them individually decided to get something to eat and by chance Christian and his friend just sat a few tables apart from Miriam. As Miriam and her mother were about to leave Christian decided that the third time is a charm he plucked up his courage with the help of huge gulp of wine and walked over to her in order to give her his business card and ask her out for a dinner back in Hamburg. Miriam was still in a relationship at that point so she was not quite sure what to do with his business card. But mothers are always a great source of advice, so the card was slipped into one of the side pockets of Miriam’s handbag… for five months.

Long cocktail dresses for more than one occassion

By Núria González, from the blog 100 vestidos, Lovehunter

Many times we struggle with buying a high-quality cocktail dress because this “investment” will only last a day. Obviously, there are occasions in which we buy dresses for special events that we use just once, for example, the matron of honour dress, our wedding dress, our dress for our best friend’s wedding… (You know the type of situations). But, for other occasions, I would recommend buying flattering dresses that we love and can use more than once. Today I’m writing this post with pictures of our looks to prove how a cocktail dress that we bought for a wedding can be used for an elegant dinner party.

These images are the best example of what I’m telling you. These pictures were not taken at a wedding, or a red-carpet event, they were taken at a special dinner party held at the Asia Gardens Hotel in Alicante, and my friend and I wanted to look perfect. With these dresses we could go to a wedding and be the perfect guests, but we wanted to go a step further and give them another chance to shine. The hairdo plays an important role in changing the style of our dress for different settings, in my case, I decided to wear my hair down, with natural waves, and Judith wore a very young looking ponytail.

How to get your make up right for you wedding day

By Rebeca Lara, from the blog A Trendy Life, Lovehunter

Wedding days are amazing. The fun starts early and you’ll be in great company from the early morning, through the afternoon and then at the party, late into the night. You have hours and hours of celebration ahead of you full of smiles and joyful tears. That’s why your make up needs to be just right to last through a really exciting roller-coaster ride of emotions.

Make Up Bride

One essential aspect you need to bear in mind is that if your skin is properly moisturised, your foundation and other make-up will stay put for longer. During the weeks before the wedding we recommend you keep your skin thoroughly cleansed and perfectly moisturised. Follow your nightly cleansing routine, being sure always to go to bed without a shred of make-up on the skin. A weekly exfoliation session will make all the difference and if you decide to invest in some treatments to add some dewy glow to your complexion, all the better. You might like to go to a beauty salon but if you prefer the do-it-yourself approach, there are literally thousands of tips, tricks and products you can add to your daily beauty regime without leaving the house.

Make Up Bride

On the big day you should follow your usual moisturising routine, taking even more care than usual. One trick that will keep your make up in place with no problems is to use a flash ampoule that will not only tighten your skin but will also add glow and light, making you look even more radiantly beautiful.

Keep your make-up simple, avoiding excess. Start with a concealer and disguise any little blemishes and imperfections such as dark circles, open pores, redness or the odd spot and then apply a foundation base suitable for your skin type (either fluid or compact). Pick a tone that matches your skin to avoid the ‘mask’ look. You are aiming for natural, dewy, healthy-looking skin. Then apply a little bronzer to areas that tend to look sun-kissed in summertime, such as the cheekbones, temples… so that you look like a golden girl who has been out in the sunshine for a while.

Don’t forget to brush a little bronzer onto your neck so it does not look too different from your made-up face.

When it comes to the blusher, less is more. This is coming from someone who tends to get carried away with it and has to use it with moderation. Terracotta and pink shades are always a good choice. Then decide whether to draw attention to your eyes or your lips… it’s one or the other, not both.

If you decide to highlight your eyes then select shadows that suit you to create that flattering smoky effect. For daytime weddings choose lighter, more natural shades to give a gleam to your eyes.

Make Up Bride

When the emphasis is on the eyes, natural lips look best: pinks, neutral shades, peach and even just a simple touch of gloss will look perfect. If you decide to emphasise your lips with a deeper colour, keep your eye shadow neutral and discreet, with some eyeliner and mascara. Whatever your make up style, mascara is essential to lengthen your lashes and give depth to your eyes. (If you decide to use waterproof mascara, all the better. There are sure to be a few tears shed during the day).

Have a light touch with the highlighter. Better to apply just a little to the areas where you want some luminous radiance, such as the chin, the centre of the lips, etc…

To keep your make up fixed in place and prevent shine, there’s no better ally than translucent setting powder. Carry some anti-shine blotting sheets in your bag if yours is a summer wedding or it looks like being a hot day. Apply a mist of thermal water or fixing spray when everything is ready for extra-long-lasting make up perfection.

It is very important you feel good about your make up, that you look like yourself and that you don’t feel as though you are wearing a ‘fancy dress’. Be careful not to pile on too much make up so you achieve a natural effect that will allow your own radiance and beauty to shine through.
