Laura’s dress: The wedding I always wanted

It’s already a few months since it happened but when I remember it I always get a sweet smile on my face.

It was in September, in the heart of the countryside but at the same time close to the sea, in an 18th century mansion called “Masia Ribas” in Barcelona. The ceremony took place at the back of the mansion in a large area full of pines.

Carlos and I were introduced by a mutual friend and it was love at first sight. I knew that he was ‘the one’ from the moment I saw him. Three years on, here I am, writing about our wedding, our union, and I am still excited.

The wedding was a reflection of the way we are, a simple couple, enthusiastic and happy.

The feeling that comes over you when you are choosing the dress was beyond anything I had imagined. I can assure you that it’s true when they say that brides fall in love with their dresses. Every time I look at it, I just melt. I wanted something different. I didn’t want a classic one-piece dress. That’s when I discovered Pronovias separates which, as you might imagine, come in two pieces. I looked at all the bodices and skirts and picked out the ones I wanted. I even decided to give a different touch to my look and wore a different bodice for the dinner and party. I wanted a simple crepe blouse to wear with a floral crown and the design team at Pronovias created one for me, which was exactly what I wanted.

Both my husband and I love aromatic plants, so we used pots containing these as part of our seating plan. There was one pot for each table and we put cards in them with the names of the people who would be sitting there.

After dinner, the catering company collected up all the pots and put them in wheelbarrows so that the guests could take them home as a souvenir of the wedding.

The bridal bouquet, my crown and the floral decorations, all wild flowers, were created by Flowers by Bornay, all in the same colours.

Elena’s dress – My genuine treasure

Elena and Rubén’s story is a fairy-tale romance.

Elena met Rubén through some mutual friends at University on graduation day. Although nobody felt like going out that night, when the couple met it was love at first sight. That was 12 years ago.

They decided to tie the knot on 23 August 2014. They both knew they wanted an unconventional wedding and, in spite of having guests of different cultures and nationalities (she is Romanian and he is Spanish) they decided to find a close-by, different, venue in a natural setting. They found what they were looking for at the Palacio de El Rincón in Aldea del Fresno in Madrid.

She knew the type of dress she was looking for but wanted to try on several different styles. Her choice was Brandir from the 2015 collection, a jewelled dress with a sheer layer at the top and back decorated with dazzling embroidery and sequins that complete the look.  Elena explained that the dress is a real jewel, “my genuine treasure”, adding: “The best thing about it is that it flatters my figure. I think it is beautifully cut. Having chosen a jewel dress I knew that I needed to pick other accessories that would enhance rather than detract from the dress. That’s why I wore a silk tulle veil. My hair was up in a simple plait and I carried a simple round bridal bouquet of white roses.”

Her hair was worn in a semi up-do with a plait coiled around her head like a crown. The silk tulle veil was pinned onto the plait and her remaining hair was swept to one side to reveal the dropped back of the dress.

She also went for natural make-up in pale colours with the emphasis on the eyes.

Her nails were painted pale pink to suit the style of the dress and make-up.

Her second dress for the party, also by Pronovias, was a unique design from the 2014 collection. A corset style strappy bodice was appliquéd with flowers and crystals that cascaded down the sides of the body onto the white silk skirt.

What a spectacular result! A fairytale princess in the dress of her dreams.

10 cocktail dresses for weddings and events

By Marieta, from Quiero una boda perfectaLoveHunter

Spring is here, the weather is warming up and the days are getting longer. New colours are here, reminding us that the wedding and events season is just around the corner. Red, green, blue, nude, purple, pink, silver and black are some of the main colours featured in the dresses in the New Cocktail 2016 Collection by Pronovias.

Long cocktail dresses look wonderful for evening weddings and events, where elegance is de rigueur. I just adore simple dresses that can be dressed up with eye-catching accessories and jewellery later on. For 2016, Pronovias has put the beading and gemstones aside and created long dresses with simple lines and little decoration. They ooze sensuality and come in some stunning colours. Our more casual, carefree floral prints are proving popular with younger guests, while black is back for a more serious effect.

All our dresses are cut to fit the body perfectly, revealing your femininity and sensuality like never before with incredible plunging backs and sensual sheer effects. For the star guest, just like our wedding dresses, you’ll find tattoo effect lace. They are absolutely gorgeous and one hundred per cent irresistible.

For today’s post I’ve picked out a selection of my top ten cocktail dresses that I would be delighted to wear to any wedding or event. I hope you’ll like my choices:

-       LainaLastaLatoniaLaural or Laverne, have marvellous tattoo-effect transparent lace details that look beautiful and temptingly sensual. I must admit that I’d find it very difficult to decide which one to wear for my next event. Which would you pick?

-       Lasira and Lavel, have superb, pared-down, elegant lines. They come in pastel colours and have comfortable puffed skirts with side pockets. They are sure to be a tremendous hit.

-       Laciana o Lasia, are perfect for guests wanting to show off their figures. They hug the curves and have sensual plunging backs.  If you want to be one of the sexiest guests then pick one of these two styles.

-       Lataya, is completely different from my other suggestions. It is a young, fresh, casual style but just as special thanks to its marvellous fall.

This year, along with its new Cocktail collection, Pronovias has launched a delightful range of perfect accessories such as clutches and headdresses for parties.

Wedding trend: jewel wedding dresses

By Keyla Días G., from the blog Tendencias de bodas, LoveHunter

Numerous brides around the world are quite sure of what they want. They want a dress to dazzle on the big day, sometimes quite literally. Ideal dresses for these brides are embroidered with gems, bugle beads, paillettes, crystals and pearl appliqués. They dream of wearing a jewel wedding dress!

Over the last few seasons, these jewel dresses have become an important part of each Pronovias collection, a trend which the firm has adapted to all types of women, from those looking for dress with all-over embellishment to others preferring a touch of shimmer.

The Pronovias ‘crystal collection’ has designs with jewelled trims, but the unquestioned show stoppers are dresses where the top or bodice of the dress is densely worked with exquisite jewelled embroidery, offset by wide tulle skirts. Fantastical focal points ideal for brides who want to look like princesses on their wedding days.

With simple lines and figure-skimming silhouettes, the Pronovias 2015 collection includes top-to-toe, jewel encrusted dresses , sometimes with the focus on the back – one of the star details of the season – with sheer embroidered fabrics that create a marvellous second skin effect. In these dresses, the focus is on the embellishment, using different sizes and shades. Sometimes one dress can be decorated with numerous types of work, making the dress a unique piece.

If you appreciate the jewel effect of the dresses but not the razzle-dazzle, what is there for you? If this is your dilemma, then take a look at the marvellous new matt jewel effect dresses by Pronovias. There are dresses embroidered with white matte micro beads with all the magic of the embroidery but a more sophisticated appearance. Examples of this type of jewel dress are the exquisite CLAUDINE and CENTAURUS designs, or the CLARISA dress which uses white embroidery work on a contrasting background to create the wedding dress of your dreams.

Milica’s wedding dress

Milica and Boban are a beautiful couple from Belgrade, Serbia. She is a translator and he is a professional basketball player. They had two special wedding celebrations, a small romantic ceremony in the Caribbean and a traditional family ceremony in Belgrade, so she wore two spectacular Pronovias dresses, one for each ceremony.

Milica and Boban fell in love in Cancun, Mexico, so they chose that Caribbean city to tie the knot in a small, romantic and symbolic wedding ceremony. For them there was nothing more romantic, exotic and exciting as a destination wedding. The bride’s choice of dress for the beach wedding was the Erika model from the 2012 Collection.

She knew she wanted a mermaid dress for their beach wedding and when she tried on the Erika model she instantly knew she had found the one, “it is the most gorgeous mermaid style wedding dress I have ever seen” explained Milica.

For the big, traditional, family ceremony in Belgrade, Serbia, Milica’s original plan was to buy a short white dress to wear for the reception but then she tried on the Lacerta model and her heart began to beat faster. She fell in love with the soft tulle and Chantilly lace of the incredibly unique dress, its organza flowers and crystal precious stones. The princess gown with bateau neckline at the front and V back with sheer off-the-shoulder interior fitted her perfectly. She looked beautiful in it.

“I was thinking that the wedding is probably the only occasion to wear something as dramatic as a princess style dress, and Lacerta had everything I could wish for, numerous layers of tulle giving me a feeling I’m walking on clouds, long sleeves which I adore because they are so sophisticated and classy, a half open back and the torso covered in the most delicate lace details…Of course, I really wanted to stand out and to feel and look special on my wedding day, and in both dresses I felt the way every bride deserves to feel – like the most beautiful woman in the universe, at least for a day” explained Milica.

She wanted her wedding dresses to have a timeless beauty and she found that in both her Pronovias dresses.

When it came to accessories, she decided to keep it very simple. The dresses were so amazing that she felt she didn’t need to add anything else.

Her something old was a statement pair of earrings in blush and honey shades, made by an excellent Serbian designer Ines Atelier . Her something blue was a YSL clutch, her something borrowed was a delicate heart shaped bracelet, and her something new was a pair of amazing and stylish Jimmy Choo gold glitter sandals.

As for the hair and makeup, she wanted to look beautiful but natural. Her make up was done by the exceptionally talented Dusan Lazic, “currently the best Serbian makeup artist. He is a true wizard so I didn’t even have to think about what I wanted, I felt confident in his skills and the final result was just WOW!” said the bride.

Milica’s hair was in the hands of her long-standing hair dresser Nemanja Veljkovic. Both of the dresses had beautiful half open backs which she wanted to highlight, so he created a beautiful messy yet classy low bun.

Her bouquet was in white and blush shades, made of orchids and peonies, Milica’s favorite flowers. It looked so romantic and delicate and was made by Serbian florist Zorica Jovicic for Krug Art flower shop.

The Mexican wedding was held on the white sandy Maroma beach, facing a turquoise ocean, at sunset…breathtaking.

In Belgrade, they first exchanged their vows before God in the Vavedenje monastery, followed by a civil ceremony at the House of King Peter I Museum, one of the most beautiful buildings in Belgrade. They then had a great celebration at a very nice restaurant overlooking the river bank beneath the historical fortress of Kalemegdan.
