Spain's first specialist bridal stores appear. Pronovias shops became the perfect place for brides to find their dresses and accessories. This year, the shop in Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona organised its first fashion show.
Sober, refined models in alpaca and necklines and sleeves embellished with guipure lace with gold thread were a real innovation at the time. Godets with pastel colours and prints appeared in skirts.
This was the decade when the brand went international. Stores opened in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Italy and Pronovias started appearing in Latin America.
Classic bridal styles were in fashion again. The traditional bride we are accustomed to seeing today. White dresses with veils.
Pronovias Costura was born. It was launched in Barcelona, in Via Augusta/Diagonal street,
a new concept store where brides found wedding dresses that blended prèt a porter with pure handmade craftsmanship.
The first collections were launched under licence, working with designers such as Hannibal Laguna, Lidia Delgado and Miguel Palacio. They were followed by names such as Emanuel Ungaro, Badgley Mischka, Lorenzo Caprile, Valentino and Elie Saab.
The six-storey flagship store opened in New York between 5th Avenue and Madison.
